Trends for CHEAP! The see-through knit

From mesh to clear vinyl, 2017 has been all about transparent looks. Going into 2018 it seems that this trend may just be getting started.

Now this trend isn't for everyone, it takes a lot of confidence to pull off. But with that being said as long as you feel good in what you're wearing, that is all that matters!

Although we are still seeing mesh and vinyl this year, the Fall/Winter 2017 runways also saw thin knits with little to nothing underneath.

Probably the most extravagant version of this was on the Fall 2017 runway for Calvin Klein.

The models were barely dressed in knitwear that looked like it would be anything but warm!

Now this is completely impractical and extreme, but like I said other designers had similar, more practical, styles.

For example Yves St Laurent's Winter 2017 runway featured lot's of sheer fabrics, Including some knits.

These are sheer knits that are more wearable for the average person. I was inspired by this trend as a fun way to show some skin.

Though I would love to have a designer knit, my wallet would not allow it. So I took to the thrift store!

I went to my local Plato's Closet, which is a consignment shop near where I live in Brampton, Ontario. While scanning the racks I spotted a sheer knit top in a beautiful colour. The colour was a light grey with a blue tinge to it.

Brand: Oak and Fort

Size: L

Sourced: Plato's Closet

Price: $14.00

This mock neck top fit great and although I was a little perplexed as to how, or where I would style this, I couldn't leave it in the store.

I started thinking and realized I own a bralette in almost the same colour as the top. I think that the bralette with the knit over it, tucked into a pair of mom jeans, finished off with a cool jacket and boots would be a great late-dinner look.

Not to mention the brand of this knit is Oak and Fort, a very reputable brand. Similar knits on their site sell for $68.

So what do you think, was this a good dupe for the sheer-knit trend?
